Biohazard, 2004
The symbol for biological hazard is represented on the external wall
of an exhibition space. The logo was developed in 1966 by engineers
of the firm Dow Chemicals. Its design was defined on an exclusively
functional basis, indipendently from any aesthetic criteria. It was
selected after a survey that tested the visual impact and the subjective
interpretation of a series of images proposed by a large number of
scientists : « we wanted something that was memorable but
meaningless, so we could educate people as to what it means ». |
