Terraforming project, 1998-2004
Approximately a thousand billion spores of genetically modified bacterium,
presented in a sealed glass bulb. Each bacterium is a clone, containing
the copy of an «image» . Their genome was injected
with an artificial DNA molecule representing (by means of the formal
alternation of A, T, G and C molecules), the image of a human hand.
The spores in the sealed bulb are alive : if liberated, they
could germinate and reproduce again.
Terraforming project is an evolving work , presented in a different way
in every new exhibition space. The experience is therefore enriched by each additional
variation. |
